چکیده

In the future a virtual human is expected to play important roles such as a character, an avatar and a robot in the amusement field. To realize a virtual human computer-graphics has advantages in cost and maintenance. However, a human feels a slight discomfort at the robot's face that is represented by using CG because a robot's head in the virtual world does not fit in the environment of the real world. To resolve the problem, we have proposed a robot's head by using CG and some sensors that respond to a surrounding environment. Here, focusing on physical contact, this paper proposes a robot’s head using CG and a touch screen panel. Also, we propose robot eyes that reflect a surrounding environment realistically toward the realization of eye contact. Some experiments show that the robot’s face changes according to an environmental change like a human in the real world.

The study of Lysozyme adsorption onto 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylates and Silicon Hydrogel Contact Lenses

In order to increase the water content and the oxygen permeability of hydrogels used in themanufacture of contact lenses, the polar monomer Silicon Hydrogel Contact Lenses (SHCL), and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) were copolymerized with the hydrogels. Due to the presence ofpolar monomers in the conventional contact lenses, the major component of the human tear, lysozyme is extensively adso...

Assessing the image quality and eye lens dose reduction using bismuth shielding in computed tomography of brain

Background: Epidemiological studies show that computed tomography (CT) is one of the main sources of ionizing radiations. Shielding of radiosensitive organs is one of the dose reduction methods. This study aimed to assess the eye lens dose reduction and image quality resulting from the use of radio-protective bismuth shield in brain CT imaging. Methods: Bismut...

Exact Eye Contact with Virtual Humans

This paper describes a simple yet effective method for achieving accurate, believable eye contact between humans and computer-generated characters, which to the author’s knowledge is demonstrated here for the first time. A prototype system provides a high-fidelity stereoscopic head-tracked virtual environment, within which the user can engage in eye contact with a nearphotorealistic virtual hum...

A clinical decision support system for contact lens evaluation

Background: Contact lenses are transparent, thin plastic disks that cover the surface of the cornea. Appropriate lens prescription should be performed properly by an expert to provide better visual acuity and reduce side effects. The lens administration is a multi-stage, complex and time-consuming process involving many considerations. The purpose of this study was to develop a decision support...
